ODOUR-CONTROL UPGRADING REQUIRED TO PUMPING STATION AT RICHMOND

A new odour and corrosion control facility would be required to provide odour control for Munster's sewage, which would reach Richmond, in seriously "septic" condition after traveling 11 km.

The odour and corrosion control facility would consist of a below-ground "stripping chamber" on the north side of the building (adjoining the existing wet well) and a "bio-scrubber" facility attached to the south side of the building. This "vapour-phase" type of facility is required, because of the extreme length of forcemain involved, and the H2S and methane gas generation which would occur as a result.

Note that the Glen Cairn Trunk pipeline had to be replaced after approximately 26 years, due to corrosion caused by septic sewage from Stittsville and Richmond.

So much for the "theory" of 90-year life-cycle forcemains!
