Open letter to residents of Munster Hamlet
It has come
to our attention that the residents of Munster feel that the
residents of Richmond are starting a “war” with regard to the
proposed sewage pipeline. Please believe that we are not at war
with the residents of Munster. We are questioning the decision
that was made to rectify the sewage problems and needs of Munster,
without input from the residents of Richmond.
Our questions
are based on the fact that history has shown that pressurized
pipelines can create problems. These problems could affect the
aquifer in Richmond. If the shoe was on the other foot, would you
like to wake up one morning to (a) polluted water (b) no water?
Needless to say, any property which does not have potable water is
worth nothing.
We have also
been told that the cost of the pipeline would be much, much higher
than the figures that have been quoted. We feel, as do many
engineers, that a safer, cheaper solution would be to treat the
waste onsite.
We are not at
war with you, we are simply trying to save our property, our
health, and our future.
